Argentina's climate ranges from subtropical in the north to sub-Antarctic in the south.
Buenos Aires’ urban attractions are enjoyable whatever the season. However don’t forget that when it is winter in the Northern Hemisphere it is summer in Argentina. Winters in Buenos Aires can be cold. Though the temperature never drops too low, there are chilling winds off the Atlantic Ocean. Summers can get hot and most portenos (inhabitants of Buenos Aires) escape to the coast for their annual holidays in January. Probably the most pleasant times are spring and autumn.
The densely populated central zone (including Buenos Aires) is temperate. Summer, from December to March, is hot and humid, with temperatures ranging from 22 to 35ºC (72-95ºF). Autumn is in April-May, with temperatures in the range of 10 to 20°C (50-68ºF). Winter is from June to August, with temperatures of 0 to 20°C (32-50ºF); winter nights can be cold, with temperatures below freezing. Spring is from September to November and has temperatures of 12-25°C (59-77ºF).
